Ford Endeavour Comeback: What To Expect?
It seems like Ford is working hard for its Indian comeback. The speculations are all over the internet. In fact, the upcoming Ford Endeavour, Mustang Mach E, and a mid-size SUV (possibly a new Ecosport) have been homologated already. Now, the latest spotting raises anticipations that the SUV has been imported by Ford itself. While the badge on the spotted model says 'Everest', it'll be sold as Endeavour in India.
Additionally, the Everest brand name is only used in the global models. As visible in the rear-end photos of the SUV, it is possibly here for research or testing purposes. Moreover, the headquarters of Ford are in Chennai itself. Thus, the anticipation that this model has been imported for testing, intensifies.
The design of the upcoming Endeavour will be similar to the Everest SUV. Moreover, it'll get a 2.2-lt, turbo-diesel engine mated to a 10-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Internationally, the Everest is sold with multiple engine options but the Indian market will get the diesel guzzler only. While the launch timeline is in a blur, for now, we expect Ford to make an official announcement somewhere around mid-2024.
The launch price of the new Endeavour can go upwards of Rs 40 lakh. Its primary rival is the Toyota Fortuner while the MG Gloster will also compete with it; once launched.
Verdict
Since the news breakout of Ford returning to India, the Ford fans have been utterly happy. While there is no official announcement, the comeback is likely to take place with the help of Tata Motors. The Chennai-based plant will be used for the CKD production for the upcoming Endeavour and other models.
