The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure might be one of the most anticipated motorcycles of this year, and it has finally been unveiled at the ongoing India Bike Week. However, there's a surprise. The bike maker has shown only the 390 Adventure S, and not the more hardcore Adventure R from the EICMA.

2025 KTM 390 Adventure S
KTM India has only shown the mid-spec 390 Adventure S at the ongoing India Bike Week. The new 390 Adventure S gets the same Dakar-inspired design, featuring a vertically-stacked projector LED headlight setup and a typically taller stance.
The 390 Adventure S features a 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel setup with spoke rims. These are likely to be tube-type tyres, but we can expect tubeless tyres to be featured in the near future. KTM has not released any numbers yet, but the 390 Adventure S appears to have a lower seat height than the more hardcore Adventure R. It also makes use of WP Apex adjustable suspension on both ends. Not much can be said about the braking hardware yet.
In terms of features, the 390 Adventure S comes with the same 5-inch TFT screen, mounted higher up to mimic higher-capacity rally motorcycles. The switchgear of the motorcycle also features a button for cruise control, which should make things more interesting in this segment. As for the engine, not much is known, except that it carries over the 399cc, liquid-cooled single from the 390 Duke. However, it is likely to be in a different state of tune, with more torque to suit the nature and purpose of an adventure-tourer motorcycle.

2025 KTM 390 Enduro R
The 390 Enduro R is up next; a more purpose-built, enduro-style hardcore adventure motorcycle designed to take on some serious off-roading and trails. Much like the 390 Adventure S, the 390 Enduro R will also be powered by the 390 Duke's engine, but in a slightly altered state of tune.
Design-wise, the 390 Enduro R gets a more purposeful, dirt-bike type design with a prominent beak up front, a tall and slim profile, and an almost flat seat. It makes use of a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear wheel setup, also with spoke rims. The Enduro also comes fitted with WP Apex USD forks and a monoshock, and we can also expect some level of adjustability here.
Not much can be said about the equipment list for now, but the 390 Enduro R receives a more basic-looking LCD screen, along with a switch that turns off the ABS.
Both motorcycles will be fully revealed in January 2025, with their specifications and prices. Pre-bookings for both bikes begin from December 10 onwards. KTM may also surprise us by adding the missing piece in this puzzle; the 390 Adventure R. However, that seems to be wishful thinking for now.

Verdict
This will be the biggest upgrade to the 390 Adventure, which was already long overdue for one, and the fact that KTM is also bringing along the 390 Enduro R bodes well for buyers who wish for something a little more hardcore but still road-legal for the daily commute.
