As we step into the future of electric vehicles, it's clear that the automobile industry is shifting gears toward a brighter EV landscape. One of the giants in this arena, Tata Motors, has recognized the potential and is revving up to expand its electric vehicle offerings. Currently holding an impressive 68.7% market share as of August 2023, Tata leads the pack in 4-wheeler EV sales. With the recent launch of the Nexon EV facelift, there's a whole fleet of electric cars poised for introduction in the coming months.

Tata has ambitious plans to roll out three new EV models by the close of 2024. Curious to know more? Keep reading for the inside scoop on what's in store!

Tata Punch EV: Expected To Launch Around October 2023

The Tata Punch, currently available in ICE version, is gearing up to launch its electric counterpart, expected to hit the market around October 2023. It's likely to follow a design evolution like the Tiago/Tigor EV, with minimal changes on the outside, like a closed grille and an EV badge. The price is estimated to be between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh.

The exterior features, such as the distinct split DRLs, LED taillights, flared arches, and black cladding, are expected to remain the same. Inside, not much will change either, as people seem to love the current design. It will come equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, and safety features like a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, and a rear-view camera.

It looks like they're planning to swap out the gear lever for a fancy rotary dial in the Punch EV. Now, when it comes to the power source, they're thinking of borrowing some bits from the Tiago EV. That means you'll have two battery options to choose from. The first is a smaller 19.2kWh battery paired with an electric motor dishing out 60bhp of power and a respectable 110Nm of torque. And for those who crave a bit more power, there's the larger 24kWh battery, hooked up to an electric motor flexing 74bhp of power and 114Nm of torque.

Tata Curvv EV: Expected To Launch by 2024

Tata Curvv EV

The next big thing in Tata's upcoming lineup is the Tata Curvv, an electric vehicle set to hit the market next year. This sleek ride boasts a modern and bold design, with a hint of inspiration from the previous Nexon model. It's expected to be priced between Rs. 15-20 Lakh. Stepping inside, you'll find a minimalist yet classy interior that aligns perfectly with the ideal concept design. The Curvv comes equipped with a spacious floating touchscreen for infotainment, a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, a stylish two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, dual-tone interiors, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, and a panoramic sunroof.

On the exterior, the Curvv flaunts stylish LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that resemble a sleek horizontal bar above neatly tucked split LED headlamps. The rear end features a sloping coupe-like roofline, rear glass with a split spoiler setup at the top, and a thin, connected LED taillight below. There's another set of thick LED light bars adorning the Tata logo at the back. The rear bumper mirrors the front's triangle design layout.

When it comes to performance, Tata has been tight-lipped about the specifics of the battery and motor, but it's anticipated that the Curvv EV will offer an impressive driving range of 450-500 km on a single charge.

Tata Harrier EV: Expected To Launch Around The First Half Of 2024

Tata harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV is set to hit the market in the first half of next year. Inside, it's going to comfortably seat five, much like its diesel-powered counterpart. But, be ready for a higher price tag it's likely to start at over Rs. 23 lakh. Just like the regular Harrier is positioned above the Nexon, expect the EV to follow suit.

On the outside, you'll notice the LED DRL running across the front and sleek LED headlamps. This design seems to be influenced by the Curvv concept, with a hint of the Nexon EV in the taillights, which will also sport LEDs. Inside, it should feel familiar if you've seen the ICE version, but with a shiny new 12-inch touchscreen and an all-digital instrument cluster, similar to what you'd find in the updated Nexon EV. Luxuries like the panoramic sunroof and maybe even some ADAS features should stick around.

Tata has confirmed that the upcoming Harrier EV will be built on the advanced Gen2 architecture platform. While specific battery details are still under wraps, it's likely to clock in at around 50-60kwh, a reasonable estimate considering the vehicle's size and pricing. This choice should grant the Harrier EV a commendable range of approximately 500-550 km on a single charge. In terms of the motor setup, it's expected to have one motor on the front axle, although the platform does support all-wheel drive and offers the possibility of adding a second motor to the rear axle.

Verdict

The upcoming Tata EVs have some initial information available, but the official announcement from the company is still pending. It's clear that Tata is gearing up for their launch in the future. Tata Curvv and Harrier will go head-to-head with familiar competitors like the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. The Punch EV will be in competition with the Citroen eC3 and serve as an option alongside the Tata Tiago EV.  Also, you can join our 91Wheels Whatsapp Group for all such latest updates from the automotive industry.
