1. Slotted Between Seltos And Sonet, But Carves It's Place
The Kia Syros with its bigger dimensions and footprint, beefed-up exteriors than the Kia Sonet has an interesting story to tell. While on one side you have the Sonet that rubs shoulders with the likes of Nexon, Venue, and others, the next up Seltos takes on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and more. The Syros sits somewhere in the middle of these two, where it offers a more premium and elegant feel over the Sonet, but with its smaller footprint, shy away from leaving a mark like Seltos does. Even though its positioning is somewhat confusing, its tall boy stance and boxy structure are sure to attract eyeballs on the road.
2. Features That Make You Drool
The Syros offers a comprehensive list of features including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, OTA updates, ventilated front and rear seats, a powered driver's seat, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake, reclining and sliding second-row seats, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite with 16 autonomous features, and more. The Kia Syros boasts a premium interior with a standout feature being the dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster, merging to create a 30-inch panoramic digital view and a two-spoke steering wheel. Even the cabin feels very roomy and with the feature set mentioned, could also surpass the competition in overall comfort for the second row occupants.
3. Petrol And Diesel Mill At Work
The Kia Syros will be offered two engine options: a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired with manual and automatic transmission options. Notably, the Syros stands out as one of the few sub-4-meter SUVs in the segment to continue offering a diesel engine option.
4. Bookings And Pricing
Kia has not revealed the pricing for this latest reveal but has conveyed that the bookings will kick off on January 3, 2024, with the full pricing being revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025. As for the expectations, it will carry around Rs. 1 lakh premium over the Sonet and somewhere comparable to the Seltos. But being touted as a sub-4-meter premium SUV with tons of features, the brand is sure that it will create a distinction between these models.

5. Interesting Rivals
Being a sub-4 meter compact SUV, the Kia Syros will rub shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, and other compact SUVs. However, with the pricing that is expected, it will also breach the territory of the likes of Seltos, Creta, and other mid-size SUVs. In a market that is no stranger to cross-segment shopping, the buyer will be tempted to check out both the upper and lower segments and then pick according to their maximum budget.
Verdict
The Kia Syros is one of those intersting introductions in the SUV space that are slowly reshaping how the buyers will shop when they are on their next vehicle hunt. It creates that premiun compact SUV segment that goes a little extra for offering a luxurious experience to the occupants. But we will have to wait for the pricing and give it a little time to actually see how the market responds and if it is ready to accept a compact premium SUV without going for the bigger SUVs in the same price bracket.
