Bajaj Takes The Top Spot With 21,335 Unit Sales In February 2025

Bajaj has surged to the forefront of the electric two-wheeler market, securing the top spot in February with a notable 21,335 units sold, surpassing Ola Electirc. This represents an impressive 81 percent year-over-year growth, granting Bajaj Auto a 28 percent market share for the month. Bajaj for the first time in December 2024, overtook Ola in sales and has done it again in February 2025, all thanks to the Bajaj Chetak. However, there is a twist in the tale as per Ola about this drop in numbers. Ola Electric's position in the electric two-wheeler market saw a shift in February 2025, with the Vahan retail sales data indicating 8,647 units sold last month. It's crucial to consider that Ola had previously disclosed a potential drop in these figures due to ongoing contract renegotiations and the Vahan registrations, a move intended to optimize costs and streamline operations.

However, Ola Electric has released its own sales figures, asserting over 25,000 units sold in February, claiming a market share exceeding 28 percent and reinforcing its market leadership. While February's retail sales registration might reflect a temporary fluctuation, Ola Electric's cumulative 11-month sales of 320,562 units, showing a 16 percent increase, solidify their overall dominance in the FY2025 electric two-wheeler market. The sales number for February looks something like this:

February Sales Report

ManufacturerFeb '24Feb '25YoY Change
Ola Electric 34,0638,647-74.61%
TVS Motor14,63918,76428.18%
Bajaj Auto11,76321,38981.83%
Ather Energy9,09611,80829.82%
Hero Motocorp1,7572,67852.42%
Greaves Electric2,6103,72642.76%

Bajaj stands out with an impressive 81.83% increase in sales, indicating a strong market presence with the Chetak moniker doing wonders. Conversely, Ola Electric saw a drastic decline of 74.61% when compared to February '24 data, although the brand has given its reasons for the same, these are the official data numbers. TVS Motors and Ather Energy also showed positive growth, with 28.18% and 29.82% increases respectively, highlighting their resilience and effective market strategies. Hero Motocorp and Greaves Electric / Ampere displayed moderate gains, reflecting steady progress in their EV segments.

Verdict

Bajaj Chetak has been one solid performer that has put Bajaj on the electric two-wheeler map, and look how. While Ola had other things to justify the drop, the fact remains that the household Chetak moniker has done wonders, with the reasonable price range and consitent sales, marking a major shift in the dynamics and potentially a new hero product. Although, Ola is performing pretty good, it has had some major hiccups with the surging complaints, delayed deliveries and service centre networks.
