5. Triumph Speed 400
Price: Rs 2,34,497 (ex-showroom, India)
Triumph shocked everyone when it announced the prices of its most affordable motorcycle for India, the Speed 400. Launched at an introductory price of Rs 2.33 lakh, the Triumph Speed 400 became dearer by Rs 10,000 later. However, despite the price hike, it remains one of India's most affordable 400cc motorcycles.
Inspired by the bigger retro roadsters from Triumph, the Speed 400 is the first Triumph motorcycle co-developed with Bajaj Auto. The Triumph 400 also debuted the brands first-ever single-cylinder engine for India a liquid-cooled 398.15cc engine, which claims 40 PS and 37.5 Nm.
4. Harley-Davidson X
Starting Price: Rs 2,39,500 (ex-showroom, India)
The first-ever motorcycle co-developed by Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp, the X 440, has revived Harley-Davidson's fortunes in India in terms of volume. Hero MotoCorp manufactures the Harley-Davidson X 440 at its facility in Neemrana, making it accessible to the masses.
The Harley-Davidson X 440 is powered by a single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled, 440cc enginethe smallest and only single-cylinder engine from the brand in India. It makes 27 PS and 38 Nm and is available in three variants: Denim, Vivid, and S.
3. Bajaj Dominar 400
Price: Rs 2,30,815 (ex-showroom, India)
Next on the list of the cheapest 400cc bikes is a one-of-its-kind sports tourer in the sub-400cc category, the Bajaj Dominar 400 has existed in the market for a long time. However, despite its age, the Dominar 400 still makes a strong case for itself due to its muscular looks, comfortable ride quality and explosive performance.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 sports tourer is powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 373.3cc engine. This engine is shared with the KTM RC 390 and Adventure 390 but tuned differently in the Dominar 400, which claims 40 PS and 35 Nm.
2. Hero Mavrick 440
Starting Price: Rs 1,99,000
Hero MotoCorp's new flagship motorcycle, the Mavrick 440, is a muscular-looking neo-retro motorcycle with similar underpinnings to the Harley-Davidson X 440. However, compared to the X 440, the Mavrick appeals more to the masses with its relatively more affordable prices.
Available in three variants Base, Mid and Top, the Hero Mavrick 440 is powered by the same single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled, 440cc engine as the Harley-Davidson X 440. However, in the Mavrick 440, this engine claims 27 PS and 38 Nm 2 Nm less than X 440.
1. Bajaj Pulsar NS400z
Price: Rs 1,85,000 (ex-showroom, India)
Bajaj Auto knows how to shock the market by aggressively pricing its motorcycles, and the latest one to steal the headlines is the Pulsar NS400z. The new flagship Pulsar model is also India's most affordable 400cc motorcycle.
Topping the list of thee cheapest 400cc bikes, the NS400z features an evolved design over the Pulsar NS200, the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400z has a more contemporary headlamp and minor tweaks to the fuel tank and tail section. It retains the single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 373.3cc engine from the Dominar. While it claims similar performance outputs 40 PS and 35 Nm, the Pulsar NS400z has different gear ratios for quicker acceleration.
