Citroen C3 Aircross is here already and the hype is buzzing around this new mover by the French Automaker. And why not, there are things that make it get all the attention. Be it extra seats or their easy removal. A new segment that Citroen entered or the space on offer inside the cabin. There are quite a few things that you need to know.
Let's quickly get into the top 5 highlights of this new people mover from Citroen.
1. Longest Wheelbase In Segment
The notable point of the new C3 Aircross has to be the space inside the cabin. It has a long wheelbase in the segment, which makes the legroom in the second row, quite spacious. Courtesy of this longer wheelbase, it also accommodates a 3rd row in the 7-seater variant.
2. A Modular 7-Seating On The Citroen C3 Aircross
This new SUV is available in a 5-seater option and also a 7-seating layout as well. Remember the second-row spacing we talked about above, same is not the case in the 7-seater variant. These 2 extra seats eat some of the second-row spacing, but it is a bargain, we all know, happens.
What's even more interesting is how easily the third row can be removed completely from the car. Both the seats can be removed by simply pulling a latch from the bottom and can be put back with equal ease. You can use these seats according to your needs. Pretty nifty, Right?
3. Features- Few Hits And Misses
Like the C3, on which this Aircross is based, it gets a few things and misses out on others. You will get functionality, but not the premium features. Although a fully digital driver's cluster is a welcome and techy onboarding. Apart from this, wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, a 10-inch infotainment screen, and 5-fast charging ports.
It misses out on some useful features as well. Like Automatic AC, request sensors, cruise control, and push start/stop functionality. But with the price point at which it is coming as per reports, all this would make sense.
4. Turbo Engine Under The Hood- Citroen C3 Aircross
The C3 Aircross will use the same 1.2-liter PureTech 82 engine found in the C3 hatchback that churns out 82 PS of power and 115 Nm of maximum torque and comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. The three-row model, on the other hand, will be equipped with a 1.2-liter PureTech 110 turbo-petrol engine that has a torque of 190 NM and 110 PS power, while being mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
5. Roof-Mounted AC Vents For Second Row
Keeping the middle space airy, the second-row air-con vents are mounted on the roof. 4 vents with a controls knob can be spotted in the pictures. This will allow for more spread-out airflow to the second-row passengers, and also the third-row passengers could get some of that cool breeze.
VERDICT- The C3 Aircross directly rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta in the segment. While all other rivals are offering 5-seater options, this one is offering 2 more extra seats. This could sway away a wider audience towards itself. The price is not yet revealed, but it could remain somewhere around the 9 lakh rupees mark. It would be interesting to see how the segment dynamics shift after its price reveal.
