KTM ADV 390 & KTM ADV 250: Design
The graphic design on both ADV 390 and ADV 250 has been updated. There are 2-colour schemes, with KTMs iconic racing blue available in both. The updated graphics is the same sporty, with swept-up calligraphy. Theres also all-black graphics available with the ADV 390 that align with its Dakar rally machines.
The ADV 250 has brighter graphic options with orange/white and white/blue combos. The ADV 390 gets a darker palette with orange/blue and black/orange combinations. Which one looks best, well let you be the judge of it. The alloy wheels have also been redesigned with 10-spoke wheels compared to the earlier 12.
KTM ADV 390 & KTM ADV 250: Ergonomics
Both the bikes have ergonomically remained the same. Suspension duties are still handled by the 43 mm APEX upside-down fork suspension with 140 mm travel at the front, and a WP APEX single-shock absorber with 177 mm of travel at the rear. Besides, KTM claims that the ultra-lightweight steel trellis frame, which forms the chassis on both the bikes is derived from the 450 Rally bike.
The riding stance continues to remain upright with the pegs leaned forward, and a tall visor makes it further touring friendly. The split seats are firm and well contoured. The handlebar is raised, but unlike its European model, the ADV 390 still misses out on the adjustable suspension option.
KTM ADV 390 & KTM ADV 250: Feature
Just like last year, both the KTM ADV 390 and ADV 250 get the same 5 TFT display that displays the rev counter, gear shift indicator, etc. The toggle switch on the handlebar of the ADV 390 helps juggle through other information that sets electronics like ABS mode, off-ride mode, and the MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control). The ADV 390 instrument cluster supports KTM My Ride mobile app for calls and alerts, which the ADV 250 misses out on this front as before.
Speaking of differences, one of the biggest changes from last year with traction control. Earlier, if the bike stalled within the off-road mode, then it would retort back to its standard TC settings upon restarting or if the rider stalled off-road with the TC turned off. This issue has been addressed. However, it is not clear if the TC will turn on if the rider that turned it off, post-stall/fall.
