We have confirmed news that the bookings for the new 2020 Hyundai i20 have started at a nominal price of Rs 11,000. According to our dealership sources, they have started taking the bookings for the 2020 Hyundai i20 from Rs 11,000 till Rs 25,000 - this varies from city to city as we understand.
Our dealership sources also reveal us that the car will be launched in early September and the deliveries will commence immediately without any waiting periods. Also, early bookings will be given a priority. Please note that these are unofficial bookings at dealership levels only which means you will have to make the payment to the dealer and cannot do so via the online booking option on Hyundai's website as of now.
Coming to the design of new i20, it features an entirely new avatar and when launched, will be the best looking premium hatchback in the market. It continues with the signature cascading grille which has now grown in size along with sporty bumpers which give the premium hatchback an agile look. The new triangular fog light housing also looks good in the upcoming i20.

The side profile continues to stick with the same silhouette but with more creases and a sleeker design. You also get to see new diamond-cut alloy wheels in the dual-tone shade. At the rear, it will receive LED taillights and both will be joined via a reflector strip as seen on the new Creta. The LED treatment will be seen on the headlights too for the higher variants and it will also come with LED DRLs.
Like it's previous generation which was loaded with features up to the brim, this new 2020 i20 makes no difference. It will get new features like BlueLink connected technology, a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Furthermore, it will get ambient lighting, digital instrument cluster, automatic HVAC controls, wireless charging and among others. Safety features continue with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, high-speed alert system, front seat belt reminder and more. It is not sure whether features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist Function and Leading Vehicle Departure alert.
Mechanically it will continue with the same 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine which makes 82 bhp and a peak torque of 114 Nm. It will come with a 5-speed manual and an optional CVT gearbox. For diesel, it will use the bigger 1.5L unit from the Creta but in a detuned state, like it is offered in the Venue. It will make 99 bhp and 240 Nm of torque. It is to be seen if the ARAI certified is similar or more than the Venue in the upcoming i20.

Additionally, to compete with the likes of Polo 1.0L TSI, Hyundai will also bring in a more powerful 1.0 turbo petrol engine. It will make 99 bhp of power with a peak torque of 170 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard but we're also expecting a 7-speed DCT gearbox. This is the same gearbox-engine combination seen in the Venue as well. Recently, we spotted the i20 on test with the Baleno and the Polo TSI on the outskirts of Delhi.
The newer i20 is expected to launch in September and the prices for the same are expected to stick between Rs 6.01 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz.
