Ford Ecosport was the car which curated the trend of subcompact SUVs in India. Soon after the launch, the waiting period touched the roof and the EcoSport unknowingly ignited the most popular car segment in the Indian market. 7 years down the line, EcoSport is still doing great in its segment but has started to show its age. Overseas, the EcoSport is about to get a new Active trim on November 6th. But the question is, will Ford launch the EcoSport Active in India? Let's get into the details and find that out.
Talking about the Ford EcoSport Active, it will be a more rugged version with added cladding and new body inserts. The EcoSport Active is already on sale in the Brazilian markets and there it is called "EcoSport Storm". Ford will launch the EcoSport Active in European markets on November 6th and India launch is possible too. Powering the Active will be 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine range for the European markets, however, AWD will be given a miss which is offered in Brazil.

Putting some light on the changes, we have got rugged skid plates on the front and rear bumpers. Moreover, all the wheel arches now get thick body cladding and the ORVMs get gloss-black colour. The alloy wheels also get a different design and the size of the wheels go as high as 18-inch for the ST line in European markets. On the inside, the upholstery is tweaked along with Active embossing on the seats. Rest of the cabin is identical to the regular EcoSport and it doesn't sport any major changes.
Talking about the heart of the matter, Ford offers the EcoSport Active with 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol and 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine range. The output of the Ecoboost engine goes from 100PS to 140PS whereas the EcoBlue comes in two tunes - 100PS/215Nm and 125PS/300Nm. Ford can also introduce the 1.5-litre diesel with 125PS and 300 Nm state of tune for the Indian market as it will go in line with the Mahindra XUV500. Moreover, Ford EcoSport will also gain Mahindra's 1.2-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine in early 2021.
