Ford decided to exit the Indian market and out of all the things, it meant one major thing. The departure of the Ford Endeavour from India. While the Ecosport had and still has a big and loyal fanbase, there were still plenty of replacements from the rival brands. Ford Endeavour, an arch-rival to the revered Toyota Fortuner was the only rival option in the big SUV segment. While players like Mahindra Alturas and MG Gloster placed their bets, it was never enough to dent the sales of these two biggies.
Now, the 2024 Ford Endeavour is returning to the country, and according to some online sources, it will be christened the Ford Everest. But why was it named Endeavour in its previous phase? Well, it couldn't secure the trademark as it was already registered and in use. Now the brand seems to have acquired the rights and crossed the hurdles to use the moniker in the country. While it will impart a unified global identity to the SUV, it will also be economical when the SUV is imported in limited numbers at first.
Ford Endeavour: Interior And Features
Since the initial units will be imported, they will carry the international specs currently on sale outside the country. It comes with a dark cabin theme with a vertically stacked 12-inch infotainment screen. The fully digital instrument cluster is a 12-inch unit on the top-spec variants. However, it gets reduced to 8 inches with the lower variants. Keeping its tech-rich essence. you will get a wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging pad, 360-degree camera, auto-park function, electronic parking brake, ADAS, ventilated seats, and more. The Endeavour's (or Everest) interior delivers what it is known for.

Powertrain Options
In the international markets, Ford Endeavour offers two diesel options: a 2.0L Bi-Turbo with 206bhp/500Nm or a 3.0L V6 boasting 247bhp/600Nm. Both roar through a 10-speed auto, offering e-shifter control over rear-wheel or 4x4 (standard on Platinum, optional on others). However, it is the smaller 2.0 litre engine that will hit our shores. Even in its previous stint, the 3.2 litre diesel mill was shelved due to stricter emission norms.
The brand is planning to introduce the initial units through the CBU route for an expedited entry. The local manufacturing is set to begin in 2025 at its Chennai plant.
Verdict
Ford Endeavour retuning to India wil reignite the segment that has remained almost without any action for quite sometime. Fortuner sale son the other hand will definetely take a hit, as it is already evident from the hype that surrounds the Everest.
