- Hero MotoCorp registers the trademark of Xtreme 160R Carbon Edition.
- Expected launch by January 2023.
- The special edition will likely get some cosmetic changes over the regular model along with new feature additions.
Special Edition vehicles have become a part and parcel of the Indian automotive industry off-lately. Some cosmetic changes here and there and we have a special edition ready for launch. Mechanical changes in a special edition model are one-offs and there are hardly any car/bike manufacturers willing to take this leap of faith. Having said that, special editions do create a wider range of choices for the customers, in turn boosting the sales potential of a vehicle. In the latest bout of this special edition spree, Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch the Hero Xtreme 160R Carbon Edition.

Hero Xtreme 160R Carbon Edition: What We Know?
As per the Trade Mark Journal of India, Hero MotoCorp has registered a trademark by the name 'Xtreme 160R Carbon'. This clearly indicates that a special carbon edition of the brand's Xtreme 160R is in the works and is expected to launch soon. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer launched the Xtreme 160R Stealth 2.0 Edition in September 2022 at a sticker price of Rs. 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with a new paint scheme and some enhanced styling, this special edition also received the new Hero Connect technology with features such as Geo-Fencing, Speed Alert, Topple Alert and more.
As it is quite clear by the name itself, the Carbon Editon will most probably get a special Matte Grey paint scheme with some special touches. The same set of new features will be a direct lift-off from Stealth 2.0 Edition and we expect Hero to further spice up the package with some exclusive bits. The mechanical package will remain more or less the same, however, a dual-channel ABS can be a welcoming addition.
The Hero Xtreme 160R Carbon Edition will continue to be powered by the familiar 163cc air-cooled engine mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox, putting out 15.2 bhp and 14 Nm of peak torque. The 276 mm petal disc at the front and 220 mm unit at the rear with a single channel ABS serve as the anchors for the two-wheeler. With a kerb weight of 139.5 kg, the Xtreme 160R sits on a Tubular Diamond Frame and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres.

Verdict: The upcoming Hero Xtreme 160R Carbon Edition seems to be a well-calculated step from the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer. A new special edition launch within a very short time span can be the outcome of good sales figures. In terms of pricing, we expect Hero to retail it around a sticker price of Rs. 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The new additions and cosmetic changes on board the upcoming two-wheeler will decide its fate in the market.
