Honda CRF190L adventure has been patented rivaling the Hero Xpulse 200. Read all the details of this upcoming adventure motorcycle below.
It seems that the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda is on a patent spree of new products for India. After the CBR150R and NT1100, Honda CRF190L has been patented over the official homologation website in India.
The new patent spree hint towards Honda's efforts to hold on to a consistent position in the sales charts which have been not so applaudable for some time. The new patent is of an entry-level adventure motorcycle called the CRF190L in the global markets. These motorcycles, when makes it to production, shall be a direct rival to the already well-established Hero Xpulse 200 adventure motorcycle.
Honda CRF190L Design & Specifications
The baby adventure motorcycle is a direct derivative from the company's flagship adventure motorcycle Africa Twin CRF1100L. Whereas the Africa Twin is globally famous for its reliability as well as off-road capabilities, Honda has tried to incarnate the similar design outline in the CRF190L.
The front profile embraces the similar Dakar rally-inspired flat headlight, square-shaped side panels, a large windshield. A large front telescopic fork with a travel of 180mm will help riders tackle tricky off-road situations. Even the stance is high at 241 mm of ground clearance and upright set handlebars. The mid-set footpegs will help the riders to stand and ride the rough patches easily. The lightweight of just 145 kgs will also come in handy for the trail riding experience; which makes the CRF190L a nimble handler. Also, the front 19-inch wheel and the rear 17-inch wheel make the perfect combination for an adventure motorcycle of stance as that of CRF190L.
The rear end is upright set like the Africa Twin, hosting a single upswept exhaust thus making way for the single mono-shock suspension at the rear. The overall design has been outlined in a manner that the riders can comfortably use the motorcycle for daily office commutes as well as for the weekend fun trail rides without getting uncomfortable.

CRF190L Engine & Gearbox
Propelling this entry-level adventure motorcycle is the familiar engine that the Hornet 2.0 and the CB 200X motorcycle from Honda. The 184 cc, single-cylinder, the air-cooled engine makes a modest 17 Bhp of peak power and a peak torque of 16.1 Nm. Although on paper these figures might seem less but due to the lightweight 145 kg structure, CRF190L shall be tuned to perform decently for the city limits as well as occasional trail runs.
Honda will use the same 5-speed constant-mesh gearbox from the CB200X for the upcoming CRF190L as well.
CRF190L Launch & Price
Honda's CB200X when launched, focused on the buyers who wanted a comfortable city commuter as well as an occasional tourer for the highways. Well, that idea didn't work very well for Honda. The new niche of entry-level adventure motorcycles has potential which has been already proven by the Hero Xpulse 200. Honda's take on this segment might help them to revive a strong position in the two-wheeler segment in India.
With the homologation process going on, we at 91Wheels expect that the CRF190L might make it to production by the end of this year. The expected price range will hover somewhere around Rs 1.3-1.4 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
