The Hyundai Elantra was Hyundai's flagship sedan in the Indian market and not only boasted an impressive design language but in addition to this, also offered an extremely comfortable cabin and an extensive features list to the buyers. While Hyundai introduced the updated iterations of the sedan in the global markets, it is yet to make any official announcement about the launch of the next-gen Elantra in India. However, the Korean carmaker recently removed the Elantra from its official website. It is however yet to be known whether the brand is now working or introducing the next-gen model in India or it has finally axed the Elantra from its portfolio. Here are all the details that we know so far.
With demands for SUVs growing many folds in recent times, there is a sudden dip in the overall sales numbers and the premium C-segment executive sedan segment was worst hit by this new trend. The Elantra was the only sedan in this segment after the Skoda Octavia and offered a comfortable, good-looking, and premium package to the buyers. In addition to this, the Elantra was the only sedan in the segment right now to offer a diesel engine to buyers looking for something that offers affordable running costs.

While the petrol delivers peak power and torque output of 150 bhp and 192 Nm respectively, the diesel on the other hand churns out 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both these engines can be had with manual as well 6-speed automatic gearbox. On the features front, the car can be had with features like an electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, Connected Car tech, and an Infinity sound system. Available in two trims [SX, SX(O)], the Elantra was priced from Rs 17.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
In the international markets, Hyundai launched the third-gen Elantra with a number of updates. To start with, it gets a new exterior design while the interiors too are completely different. The Hyundai might introduce this third-gen Elantra as a replacement to the current second-gen Elantra that was on sale in the country. The brand however is tight-lipped about its plan to introduce the new Elantra in India.
