Hyundai will soon launch the all-new third-generation i20 in the Indian market. Very recently, the company has announced that the new-gen i20 will be launched in India on November 5, 2020. Now, just a week ahead of the national launch of the new i20, Hyundai has discontinued the old BS6 Elite i20. The Hyundai Elite i20 BS6 has been officially discontinued and this old model has been even taken down from the company's official website.
The current second-generation Hyundai Elite i20 was launched in India in August 2014. It received a mid-life update in 2017. The Elite i20 was earlier powered by both petrol as well as diesel engines. However, post-April 2020 after the implementation of BS6 emission norms, the Elite i20 was left with a sole petrol motor. It was powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that used to churn out 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. The engine was coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox only.
