Hyundai India launched the Micro SUV, Hyundai Exter on July 10th. And if you want to see what's the hype around it, it garnered over 10,000 bookings even before its price reveal. Why? Because this goes head-on with the revered Tata Punch, where the latter finally has a worthy rival in the segment. On top of this, Exter is also the first in the segment to offer a CNG powertrain and we tell you what the SX trim CNG offers.
Sit back and look at the pictures and details of the Mid-spec Exter SX CNG model.
Hyundai Exter CNG SX Trim
While the micro SUV launched on July 10th, the deliveries are on since the next day of launch. And in the process, we have the mid-spec SX CNG variant in front of us. Looking at the front,
The mid-spec variant of the Hyundai Exter SX shares the same front design as the top-spec trim, which is definitely a positive aspect. It features LED daytime running lights (DRLs) with prominent H styling, accompanied by projector headlamps positioned below. The front fascia is further enhanced by large rectangular air vents and a silver skid plate, adding a robust and muscular touch to the overall appearance of the SUV.

When viewed from the side, the mid-spec Hyundai Exter SX exhibits minimal differences compared to the top-spec SX (O) variant. The notable distinction lies in its 15-inch stylized steel wheels. Only on closer inspection, you will notice that these are not alloys, but steel wheels designed as one. Pretty neat we must say.
The rear of the SX and the SX(O) shares the same profiling and style. The H-shaped tail lamps with a gloss black strip running across the tailgate with the Hyundai logo in the center.
Inside The Cabin- Looks The Same But....
As a mid-spec trim, the Hyundai Exter does not offer premium features like a dashcam, cruise control, wireless phone charger, and push-button start.
However, it does come equipped with essential amenities. These include an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless smartphone integration. Additionally, automatic climate control ensures a comfortable cabin environment, while steering-mounted audio controls provide convenient access to audio functions. Notably, the Exter also includes a sunroof, adding an element of openness and enjoyment to the driving experience.
Verdict
The Hyundai Exter is a strong contender in the entry-level SUV segment, offering a stylish design, well-equipped interior, and competitive pricing. With its bold front fascia, essential amenities like an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and a sunroof, the Exter delivers a compelling package for customers seeking an affordable SUV experience.
