While kicking off a comparison, the first bias sets in at first glance. You can instantly make up your mind on which one looks better than the other. Since this topic is rather debatable and subjective to personal liking, we leave this for you to decide and tell us in the comments. However, in my personal opinion, the design of Hyundai Exter will feel a notch more exciting than the Tata Punch. Mind you, the Punch facelift is also coming soon with cues from the Punch EV. However, coming to straight-up numbers, while the Tata Punch is longer and wider, the Exter offers more wheelbase and height.
Features
In terms of features, let's first talk about the amenities you get with both of these models. In-focus variants offer climate control with rear AC vents, height adjustment for the drivers seat, rear wiper and washer, connected car technology, and a full LED lighting setup. The Exter excels with a larger infotainment screen, and wireless charger and wireless phone mirroring, whereas the Punch features a wired connection. Additionally, the Exter boasts a fully digital instrument cluster, whereas the Punch is equipped with a semi-digital unit.
But as mentioned above, spotted just a couple of days earlier, the Tata Punch facelift is coming with a bigger size touchscreen and a probable fully digital touchscreen mirroring the Tata Punch EV, which is said to be the inspiration of the updated Punch. You can also expect to see ventilated seats in the upcoming update, which is set to leave Exter behind in this section by margin. But for now, this is how it pans out.
Engine
Both vehicles are equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine capable of running on CNG. The Punch's engine delivers 87 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, whereas the Exter's engine produces 82 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. Both models are available with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). It is important to note that the Punch offers a 3-cylinder engine whereas the Exter comes with a 4-cylinder unit and the latter feels a bit more refined in real-life usage. However,, Punch gets you more power than the Exter as evident from the numbers revealed above.

Pricing
The Hyundai Exter SX(O) Knight Edition is priced at Rs, 10.15 lakhs ex-showroom whereas the Tata Punch Creative is set at Rs. 10.20 lakhs. With just a small difference of Rs. 5,000, both these models come out to be an excellent alternative for each other.
Verdict
The Exter Knight Edition reveals the epitome of what the Hyundai Exter can offer and impresses with its looks and amenities. Tata Punch on the other hand, if fast approching towards its facelift that will trnaform it into a more attrative and feature rich proposition. If you have sometime before you buy one of these two models, its better you wait for the Punch to evolve to its full potential for some exciting shifts in this detailed comparison.
