Hyundai i20 is one of the premium hatchbacks that was launched in 2020. In comparison with the prices of the Elite i20, the prices of this newer version shot up drastically making it one of the most expensive premium hatchbacks. Now, with the 2022 Maruti Baleno and Tata bringing in a dual-clutch automatic gearbox with the Altroz, Hyundai has rejigged the variants of the i20. Let's have a look at what's changed now!
The silver wheel caps of the entry-level Magna variant are now replaced with a gunmetal grey colour. The Sportz variant that is the most value for money variant now gets more goodies such as cruise control and automatic climate control.
Similarly, the Asta variant now gets equipped with an electric sunroof, cruise control and a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In terms of transmission, the IVT and 7-speed DCT have been axed from the Asta trim.

Sharing the details of the top-spec Asta(O) then it now gets voice-assisted commands with BlueLink connected car technology. The South Korean carmaker has also added six new voice-assisted commands and they are as follow -

Mechanically, the Hyundai i20 is offered with three engine options - 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L oil burner. The four-cylinder, naturally aspirated 1.2L motor generates 87 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 115 Nm whereas the 1.0L, three-cylinder turbo petrol makes 118 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 172 Nm. This engine is the most powerful of the lot. The 1.5L diesel produces 99 bhp of power with 250 Nm of healthy torque.
The 1.2L motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and also gets an IVT as an option. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine is equipped with a 6-speed iMT and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The oil burner gets mated to a 6-speed stick shift only.
