Hyundai Ioniq 5 Recalled: The South Korean auto giant, Hyundai has recalled over 1700 Units of its flagship E-SUV, Ioniq 5. The automaker has reported that they have noticed an issue in the integrated charging control unit of the SUV. The Ioniq 5 made its India debut on January 2023 and the SUV came to India via a completely Knocked down (CKD) route.

ICCU and Its Importance
In electric vehicles, ICCU functions as a controller that converts the high voltage of the primary battery to a lower voltage which is suitable for charging the 12V secondary battery. This component also powers all the supplementary devices connected to the car via V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality.
In case, the ICCU stops functioning and doesn't function well it can discharge the secondary 12V battery which supplies charge to some major components of the vehicle such as the speakers, climate control, infotainment system, and more.
What Customers Can Do Now?
The customers are suggested to take their Ioniq 5 to any Hyundai workshop to get the components checked thoroughly. The automaker has also said that if the ICCU is found to be defective, the brand will offer free replacement.

The Ioniq 5 gets a 72.6 kWh battery pack capable of generating 217 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The Ioniq 5 provides an ARAI range of 631 km on a solitary charge. The electric SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 8.08 seconds.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features two 12.3-inch screens - one as an infotainment display and another one as a driver's display. Some other noticeable features of the flagship EV include ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, and most importantly a panoramic sunroof.
As for safety, the E-SUV comes with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, an ADAS suite, electronic stability, and much more.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Competition in India
The Hyundai's flagship SUV is available with a starting price tag of Rs. 46 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Talking about the competition, the Ioniq 5 goes against the Kia EV6 and BYD Seal in India.
