Hyundai Staria Showcased: Eye-Catching Dimensions With Versatile Space Inside

The Hyundai Staria is a showstopper at the 2025 Auto Expo, grabbing attention with its impressive size. This behemoth measures a substantial 5,253 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,990 mm in height. The spacious interior is further enhanced by a generous wheelbase of 3,273 mm. Built on the Hyundai-Kia Ne platform, the Staria shares its underpinnings with the new-generation Kia Carnival and while the Carnival is active in the Indian market, the Staria is here, testing the waters if this could be a good fit for the local market. While the Indian market gets a glimpse of the 7-seater version, the Staria boasts global configurations that can seat up to 11 passengers across 4 rows.

Inside, the Staria offers a modern and luxurious cabin. A large, vertically oriented touchscreen dominates the center console, paired with a free-standing digital instrument cluster and a stylish 4-spoke steering wheel. Other comfort features include ventilated seats, automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat featuring lumbar support for long journeys, LED ambient lighting, wireless charging, automatic sliding doors and striking LED lighting throughout, 12-speaker sound system, plush leather upholstery, and a lot more. The safety front is well-equipped with Level 2 ADAS features, front parking sensors, 7 airbags, keyless entry, and a few more.

Powertrain Details

The Hyundai Staria offers a choice of powertrains, including a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine producing 272 horsepower and 331 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. For diesel enthusiasts, there's a 2.2-liter option generating 177 horsepower and 431 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Furthermore, the Staria can be equipped with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, enhancing its versatility and capability across various driving conditions.

Something to keep in mind is the fact that the brand has remained tight-lipped about any announcement for the India launch, but the showcase is just to gauge the interest of the marker. If it could, in the future, hit our shores, it would take the Kia Carnival as its direct competition.

Verdict

The MPVs were always in demand in our country where the Innova ruled and is still a hot seller. While it is not the most affordable, but the buyers are ready to spend that kind of money. However, for those looking for a bigger vehicle with more luxury, are getting the 50 lakhs+ MPVs as well, and that's where the Hyundai is testing the waters. The Staria, for that matter, could have a niche space for itself, but only if the pricing would be competitive.
