India Bound Audi Q6 e-tron Spied - Here's What We Know

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Audi India was recently seen testing their upcoming Q6 e-tron on the streets of Mumbai without any covers.
  • The launch is anticipated to occur in December or later next year.
  • Priced around Rs 70 lakhs, it will compete against the BMW iX1, Mercedes Benz EQE, and Volvo XC40 Recharge in the market.

The Audi e-tron family is gearing up to welcome a new member: the Q6 e-tron. Recently spotted testing in the bustling streets of Mumbai, this new model was seen without any camouflage, sporting a striking Madiera Brown Metallic paint. We believe, the Q6 e-tron will debut in India simultaneously with its international launch.

This will be the third e-tron car to launch here, following the e-tron GT, and Q8 e-tron. Let's delve deeper into what this upcoming addition to the four rings brand has to offer. Before, that, you can join our 91Wheels WhatsApp Group to get the latest automotive updates.

What can we expect from the Q6 e-tron?

Internationally, the Q6 e-tron will feature a dual motor setup, powering all four wheels with a combined horsepower of 456 and offering a range of 482 km. The India-bound version is likely to come with an 83 kWh battery pack, though its range and performance figures are yet to be disclosed. If the Indian model receives a 100 kWh battery, it will charge from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes using a DC fast charger. For exact details, we will have to wait for Audi's official announcement.

In other countries, Audi sells the Q4 e-tron, so the Q6 e-tron will fit between the Q4 and Q8 models, catering to those who prefer a mid-sized option. However, in our market, the models are being introduced in descending order. The expected price of the Q6 e-tron in India is speculated to be around Rs 70 to 80 lakh. It is based on the same platform as the Porsche Macan EV, as both are part of the Volkswagen Group.

What does the media photos of the Q6 e-tron says?

The photos released by the Audi Media Center of the Q6 e-tron showcase it with slimmer LED headlights and taillights, along with an air vent grille painted in the body color. The interior features a dramatic mix of screens with a contemporary layout. There are a total of three screens: a single panel that includes an infotainment display and a MID, and a third multimedia center for the passenger.

One important thing to note is that Audi now uses a 2D logo instead of the previous 3D one. Audi described this change, made in 2022, as "significantly more modern."

The Q6 e-tron will rival against Mercedes Benz EQE, BMW iX1 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Verdict

Audi is gearing up for the launch of the much-anticipated Q6 e-tron, but it faces a challenging time for the four rings brand. SUVs under the e-tron badge have not performed well on the sales charts, particularly in terms of range. Internationally, the e-tron models have not received much appreciation, often being regarded as average products by consumers.
