Jeep Compass is quite a popular SUV in the Indian market. Loaded with features up to the brim, offering multiple engine options and gets 4X4 as an option. A true blue SUV, indeed. However, with the potent rivals, Compass seems to be lost in the competition somehow. Not only this, the carmaker has increased the prices of Compass by Rs 1.80 lakh. Now, this is massive.

The base variant, Sport with 6-speed manual transmission gets the highest price hike of Rs 1.80 lakh. The rest of the trims that are offered with 1.4L petrol motor now receive a hike between Rs 25,000 to Rs 45,000. The 1.4-litre petrol is a four-cylinder, turbocharged unit. It produces 161 bhp of power with a peak torque of 250 Nm. It gets mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard and a 7-speed DCT as an option.

For the diesel, the price hike remains nominal between Rs 25,000 to Rs 45,000 for some trims. It is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 168 bhp of power with a peak torque of 350 Nm. This engine gets mated to a 6-speed stick shift as standard and a 9-speed automatic torque converter gearbox as an option. Also, this 2.0L diesel is quite popular as we've seen the same in other cars like Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector and more.

Verdict
Jeep Compass is now longer affordable like before. Ever since its launch in 2016, there's been a sharp increase in the prices of this SUV. It now no longer competes with Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
