FCA India is not so active for the past few years and the last update from the brand was the BS6 Compass range. Jeep brand in India is sailing with just one car that is the Compass meanwhile the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee work as lifestyle vehicles. Jeep India needs some more solid and accessible products to shine the 7-slat grille in the Indian market. In fresh news, Jeep has announced that they are working on a three-row SUV and it will be called 'Grand Compass'. Not only that, but Jeep will also launch the Compass facelift next year with updated features and design cues.

Jeep has not one, not two but three new cars (read SUVs) in the pipeline for the Indian market and we expect two of the three to hit the roads next year. Let's talk about the highlight, Grand Compass first. As per now, Jeep India has given some deets on the design of the Grand Compass which will be largely inspired by the Grand Commander sold in the Chinese markets. The Grand Commander is also a 7-seat SUV but Jeep has no plans to launch that in India due to the different platform. To occupy the 7 seats, the wheelbase will be around 150mm longer than the standard Compass and the rear doors will be longer too. Although nothing is confirmed, we expect the Grand Commander to continue with the same set of engines we get to see in the Compass. The Launch of the Jeep Grand Compass is due in Q2 of 2021.
The second product which is in the pipeline and it is expected to rush out first - Jeep Compass Facelift. The Compass facelift will be a mid-life upgrade for the Compass range and it will sport new design upgrades and refreshed interiors. Nothing will be changed mechanically but some new upgrades with the headlights and taillights will be done. The interiors of the Compass are already feature-loaded sporting all the bells and whistles you will ever ask for.

The third car on the Jeep's stable will be a sub-four metre SUV and NO, it is not the Renegade despite being under four metres in the international markets. The new sub-four metre SUV will be based on the next generation of the Fiat Panda and it will be the most worthy car in the segment to be called as an SUV. You ask why? It will be given 4x4 powertrain which is not offered with any of the sub-compact SUVs in the Indian market right now. As it is a Jeep, 4x4 is obvious and there are also expectations of a trail-rated variant as well. Bind your flowing hopes again as this all is not happening soon enough, we are talking the end of 2022 which is 2 years away.
