Kawasaki W230 Details: Design, Features, Engine, Price, Rivals

Kawasaki W230

The new W230 is based on a proper retro theme. It has a beautiful look design that is inspired by the current W series bikes like the W175. The round headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and spoke rims match the personality of an old-school roadster. Additionally, it is full of chrome parts all over. The handlebar, headlight casing, pea-shooter exhaust, and other mechanical parts, including the frame, are made up of chrome.

Kawasaki has equipped a dual-pod analogue speedometer console on it. However, there are no latest features like Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging, etc. However, the dual-tone single seat looks fantastic with the white colour scheme. The side panels are gloss black, giving an overall retro appeal.

Hardware includes telescopic from suspension, dual shockers at the rear, and spoke rims at both ends. The W230 is based on an 18-inch front and a 17-inch rear tube-type tyres. This combo is supported by disc brakes at both ends, giving a hint that it'll get a dual-channel ABS.

Engine details are still unknown but the online reports suggest that it is powered by a 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. This fuel-injected unit doesn't get a kickstarter though. Kawasaki plans to launch it officially in Japan in the coming weeks. The Japanese maker is known to launch its international products in India; suggesting that W230 can also come soon. However, it needs to be priced aggressively, unlike the W175 which is steeply priced. It can give tough competition to contenders like Royal Enfield Bullet 350 & Jawa 350.

Verdict

Kawasaki's mid-segment and affordable bike venture in India has not been good so far. The company tried to pull customers towards this segment via the W175 but its obnoxious pricing led to very few buyers. If the W230 comes to India, we request Kawasaki to keep the pricing realistic and affordable.
