The Kia Carens is one of the most affordable and VFM MPVs that we have on sale in the Indian market. The Carens not only enjoys strong demand in the market but in addition to this, also offers stiff competition to the rivals with its pricing. Having said this, soon after the Kia Sonet CNG, the Kia Carens CNG was recently spied in India, thus suggesting a launch soon in the country. In addition to this, just like the Sonet CNG, the Kia Carens too gets a turbocharged petrol engine. Here are all the details that we know so far.
The spy shots reveal that the Kia Carens CNG will be available with a 1.4-L Turbo petrol engine that will be made available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. In its petrol iteration, this engine of the Carens churns out 140 Ps and 242 Nm of peak torque. In addition to the standard 6-speed manual gearbox, the buyers can also opt for the 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox with this engine. Needless to say, the power and torque figures of the Carens CNG will be lower than the petrol iterations.

The demand for CNG vehicles is rising in the country, all thanks to the increasing fuel costs and prices of diesel cars. A number of brands have used this as an opportunity and have expanded the CNG line-up in the country. The Maruti Ertiga was the only MPV to offer a CNG variant for those looking for affordable running costs in the Indian market. The Kia Carens CNG on the other hand however will also offer better performance and a longer list of features.
The Kia Carens CNG is expected to be offered in multiple trim options and is expected to offer a feature-rich cabin to those looking for a premium MPV. Having said this, the brand is yet to announce the official launch timeline and more details about the Kia Carens CNG in India.
