Kia is prepping to reveal an all-new three-row vehicle that has so far been known as the KY (codename). Expected to be dubbed Carens when it goes on sale in India, the new model will debut on December 16. The new model will share aplenty with the Seltos and could be to the donor vehicle what the Hyundai Alcazar is to the Creta. That said, the market positioning of the Kia Carens could be slightly different.
Exterior and Interior
The upcoming model was recently spotted testing abroad, with the new images clearly revealing the SUV-like form factor of the new vehicle. The front-end of the Carens will feature LED headlamps along with LED DRLs and LED foglamps. On the side, the car has a pretty boxy profile not unlike what we have seen on the Seltos, while the rear features sleek LED taillights. Also, while the test mules seen so far had a heavy amount of camouflage, bits like a steeply raked windshield, large rear doors roof rails and black cladding on the wheel arches have been seen by the keen-eyed.
Like the Hyundai Alcazar, the Kia Carens is likely to go on sale in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The former will offer captain seats in the middle row as opposed to the bench seats on the latter. Again, this is something weve already seen on the Alcazar. The features list will likely include ventilated seats, blind-view monitor, widescreen touchscreen infotainment unit, et al.

Kia Carens Specs
Details of the engine options that will be made available on the upcoming model arent available as of now. However, rumours abound that the Carens would be sold with 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel unit. Both the powerplants will be made available with manual and automatic transmission options. As we said, the market positioning of this vehicle is yet to be revealed but unlike the Alcazar, which goes on to lock horns with the likes of Tata Safari, the Kia Carens could rival MPVs like the Mahindra Marazzo and Maruti XL6 instead.
