Kia Motors made its debut with the Seltos then brought in the Carnival and now it's third UV, Sonet which will launch by mid-August. Notice the pattern as to how this South Korean carmaker is focused on bringing in Utility Vehicles first.
Sharing more details on the launch of Kia Sonet then the sub-4-metre compact SUV was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. And once launched, this one will share its powertrain with the already popular Hyundai Venue. Like the Hyundai Creta borrows its engine from Kia Seltos, this time Kia borrows engine from the Hyundai SUV.
Kia Seltos is based on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue, however, the dimensions and the design feature will be much different from the latter.

The Sonet will receive three engine options - a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, 998 cc turbo petrol engine and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine. For the Venue, it is the turbo petrol engine which is popular among the buyers and this engine produces 120 bhp with a peak torque of 172 Nm.
And for the diesel, the engine produces 99 bhp with 240 Nm of maximum torque. Transmission sticks to a 6-speed manual as standard for both diesel and turbo petrol. The latter also sees an optional 7-speed DCT gearbox.
As far as the features are concerned, Kia Sonet will come with connected car technology - UVO connect. Also, a large 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electrically adjustable sunroof will be on the features list. Connectivity features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Voice Command will come with the SUV.

As far as the prices are concerned then the soon to be launched SUV will be priced aggressively with the Hyundai Venue. And it might get additional features too. We expect the prices to stick between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Kia Sonet will compete against Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport.
