Kia Syros EV Likely Launch By 2026
The staying of the upcoming Kia Syros EV will be heavily influenced by the ICE variants, albeit with some very EV-specific tweaks like a closed-off grille and aerodynamic tyres that reduce drag for improved efficiency. However, the styling of. the Syros is pretty much inspired by the latest design philosophy being adopted by the brand. You get tri-pod vertically stacked headlamps with vertical LED DRLs that offer a distinct styling to the front. The build will be muscular with the bodyline being adopted just as they are. However, a tall boxy design might increase the air drag and hamper the max efficiency, but it remains to be seen what aerodynamics will come into play at its final production-spec model, as and when it arrives.
The Kia Syros EV is expected to mirror the interior design and layout of its ICE counterparts, offering a premium and tech-packed cabin. The Syros comes loaded with features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and ventilated front and rear seats. Other highlights include a powered driver's seat, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake, and reclining, sliding second-row seats. For safety, it's equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes 16 autonomous features.
The standout interior feature is the dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, merging seamlessly to form a 30-inch panoramic digital view. With its spacious cabin and extensive feature list, the Kia Syros offers superior comfort, particularly for second-row passengers, potentially outshining its rivals in this regard. As is mostly it si the case with EVs, it will likely offer a few extra features over the ICE trims.
Expected Range And Battery Details
Kia has yet to announce the specific details of the battery and motor for the Syros EV, but it is anticipated to offer a driving range of around 400 km. It's important to note that the Syros shares its platform with the Hyundai Ioniq EV, available in international markets. The Ioniq offers battery options of 42 kWh and 49 kWh, with a WLTP range of up to 355 km. While the exact details are still to be revealed, we can expect it to be competitive within this range based on the shared platform.
Verdict
Although it might be a little early to anticipate about the EV iteration of the Kia Syros as the details are scarce and the ICE trims are yet to be fully launched in terms of the complete price list. However, when it comes, the practical and plush rear seat experience might give it an edge over the current competition.
