After the launch of KTM Adventure X, the bikemaker introduced another variant of the same. While adventure bikes offer more ruggedness and maneuverability on bad roads, the seating position is on the higher side which translates into better ground clearance. The KTM 390 Adventure V is now launched that has a lower seat height than the ADV X. This is focused more on getting people with a shorter height to easily handle the bike.
Let's quickly catch up on all that this new adventure tourer has to offer.
KTM 390 Adventure V Launched
While the Adventure X is a capable bike for riders, the same can't be said for people with shorter heights. Since the ride height is already high in these tourers, undulating roads call for using our legs for balance. This is where it gets tricky and subsequently, not very safe.
This widespread problem is the one targeted by the Adventure V variant. It is a low-seat height variant of the 390 Adventure. By changing the suspension setup on the front and rear, the seat height came down from 855 mm to 830 mm in the 'V' variant.
What's Changed
The element that helped alter the height is the different front and rear suspensions. Reportedly, these are borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke. Meanwhile, the suspension travel is now shorter too at 142 mm for the front and 150 mm rear with the V variant when compared to 177 mm and 170 mm on the standard variant. It also translates into a lower ground clearance as well, the figures of which are not yet out. But it could be lower by up to an inch when compared to the standard 390 ADV.
That's all that is different on the V variant, and everything else remains the same as the standard variant. The shorter stance will help KTM to cater to a wider audience in the market.
Pricing
The ex-showroom price tag is Rs. 3.38 lakhs, which is interestingly similar to the standard variant of the 390 Adventure.
The Same Mechanicals And Features
Apart from the suspension setup, it gets everything that the standard variant gets. It gets similar 19/17-inch alloy wheels front and back with dual-sport tyres, the same electronics, and an engine as that on the standard variant. The KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a 373 cc air-cooled engine that produces 43.5 PS @ 9000 rpm of power. It has a fuel tank of 14.5 L and a claimed mileage of 30 km/l.
VERDICT- The new variant on offer is a smart move by KTM to attract a wider chunk of riders looking for their next bike. Since 3 variants are currently on sale, it offers a variety of packages to suit different purposes, which is a win-win for both the company as well as the buyers.
