Mahindra Scorpio Classic Gets A New Variant - Price To Come Out Soon

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Mahindra has added a new mid-spec S5 variant in the Scorpio Classic lineup
  • Prices to come out soon
  • Will bridge the gap between the S & S11 variant

Mahindra has discreetly introduced a fresh mid-spec version of its C-Segment SUV, the Scorpio Classic. Prior to this, there were just two variants of the Scorpio Classic: S and S11, with ex-showroom costs of Rs. 12.99 lakh and Rs. 16.81 lakh, respectively. The pricing gap between the S and S11 variants, which is Rs 3.81 lakh, is what this new variant seeks to close. Although the exact price of the new S5 model has not yet been revealed, it is predicted to be approximately Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). This article will look at the walkaround video of the brand-new Scorpio Classic S5 variant that The Car Show recently posted on YouTube.

When it comes to the exterior of the new variant, the front of the vehicle features a black front grille, which is available in the S variant, while the S11 variant showcases a chrome-treated grille. The S5 variant boasts reflector-based halogen lamps for its headlamps. Additionally, it sports a body-colored bumper with a silver skid plate. On the sides, the S5 variant shares similar alloy wheels with the S11 variant but lacks body-colored door handles. The side mirrors (ORVM) are painted in a glossy black color, and the ski rack is also black. At the rear, the S5 variant follows a similar setup to the other variants, incorporating LED tail lamps.

In terms of the interior, the S5 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic shares a similar steering wheel design with the other variants. However, it does not include steering-mounted controls. Additionally, this variant features window switches located on the center trim instead of the doors. The S5 variant also comes with manually adjustable outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs). Unlike the S variant, the S5 variant does not come equipped with a music system or infotainment unit.

Many conveniences features such as automatic climate control, rear washer and defogger, electric adjustment for the ORVMs, cruise control, and other notable features, are not present in the S5 variant. The seating arrangement, however, is the same as in the S variant.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic Engine Specifications

A 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque is available in the Mahindra Scorpio Classic. The only gearbox available for this specific engine is a 6-speed manual. It's important to know that the Scorpio Classic is only available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) drivetrain.

Verdict: With the arrival of this new model, the gap between the S and S11 models will be successfully filled. While it has some extra features over the S variant, there are several features that are missing when compared to the S11 model. This specific variation is likely to draw customers looking for the factory-installed alloy wheels and other crucial features it offers. Although the pricing is yet to be revealed, we predict it to be around the Rs. 13.514 lakh (ex-showroom).
