Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spied: Base Variant To Miss Out On These Things!
While mostly the Mahindra Thar 5 door has been the higher trims on test runs, the base variant is not making its debut here, but has not been a frequent sighting. The base characteristics are profoundly exhibited by the alloy wheels in place of the usual alloys that we are accustomed to. Not only this, the tire size seems a bit downsized, probably an inch shorter.
While it is largely similar to the higher trims, it usually takes a hit in terms of features on offer. Although not visible clearly in this set of images, there is a free-standing unit noticed in place of the infotainment screen. It can either be an empty slot or a smaller screen, it is just too soon to comment on this. However, keeping in mind the expected price range, there should be an infotainment system even with the base variant.
Powertrain Options: 1.5 Litre Diesel Engine From Current RWD Thar?
The upcoming 5-door Thar is set to be equipped with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine, mirroring the powertrain found in the current 3-door Thar RWD model. It is anticipated that this 1.5-liter diesel variant will serve as the foundational engine option for the lineup. In its existing configuration within the Thar 3-door model, this engine delivers 117hp and 300Nm of torque. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the power output will remain consistent for the 5-door version.

The Thar5 door 1.5 diesel variant is positioned as a robust five-seat alternative to the Scorpio N model. Elevated variants are projected to carry the potent 175hp, 2.2-liter diesel, and 203hp, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol powertrains, akin to those featured in the Scorpio N. It is expected that the new SUV will offer both 4WD and 2WD configurations, providing consumers with a selection of manual and automatic transmissions.
While the 5-door is set to debut on 15th August this year, unofficial bookings are already underway at dealerships across the country. However, there is no official announcement regarding the pre-bookings.
