Mahindra has been rigorously testing its upcoming Thar 5-door. The SUV has been spotted yet again in Bengaluru city traffic. Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Interior Changes and Features
The new spy pictures show that the dashboard design of the Thar 5-Door will be revamped. It'll get a new digital instrument console with clean and interesting graphics. The layout of this screen can be similar to the digital console of the XUV700. Thar 5-Door will also get a new steering wheel inspired by the ScorpioN. Additionally, it'll get a bigger touch-infotainment screen.
Other cabin changes will include captain seats for the second row, an electric sunroof, electric IRVM, etc. Mahindra will keep the essence of the Thar 3-Door interior design with the grab handles and rugged material use. The practicality of 5-Door will attract buyers from one segment above.
Engine Changes and Launch Timeline Details
There's no information available about the engine options to be offered on Thar 5-Door. However, we assume that it'll carry forward the same powertrain options as on the Thar 3-Door. The diesel and turbo-petrol engine options shall be re-tuned and the gear ratios will be revised. The performance of the Thar 5-Door will be different than the 3-Door version due to added weight and bigger dimensions.
Mahindra has been testing the 5-Door version for a while now. Online rumours suggest that it'll be launched in the second half of this year. Possibly around the festive season later this year, we might witness its launch. Pricing is expected to range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Thar 5-Door will challenge SUVs one segment above. The success of Thar has pushed Mahindra to create this longer version. With its launch later this year, Mahindra's profits will surely take a hike.
