Mahindra Thar is one of the most affordable off-roaders out there and the SUV has garnered a lot of interest in the Indian market. We have brought you several modifications around it but the recent one is slightly different. It is the soft-top version of the Mahindra Thar that has now been modified into the hardtop version and it also houses a sunroof. Let's have a look!
This is the LX variant of the Thar that also comes with a convertible top. The owner has now converted the convertible top to the hard top and it actually makes a lot of sense. Monsoon is at its peak in Delhi and a solid roof is all one needs from a hardcore off-roader.
This is the diesel variant of the Thar and is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit. This one generates as much as 130 PS with 300 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is observed as standard but this one is a 6-speed AT.

What's interesting in this Thar is that the owner has chosen to modify the roof and also include a sunroof. This is not the electric sunroof but rather the old school that is operated by hands. To open the sunroof, you get three latches and once you twist them, voila, you have ray of light coming directly from the roof.
As of now, it is not known that if the hardtop is made from fibre or with metal. The company fitted hardtop is fitted in fibre material. Other modifications in this Thar include leatherette treatment on the roof, steering wheel, seats and what can be seen is that the rear seats also gets armrest at each end.
On the outside, this red rage colour scheme really stands out and the owner has opted for the chrome package too. The chrome garnish is available on headlight and foglight, on the LED DRLs surrounds, taillights, reflectors and all door handles.
