Mahindra XUV 3XO EV Launch By The End Of 2024
Mahindra is gearing up to launch the all-electric Mahindra XUV 3XO by the end of this year, known internally as the S240. Positioned below the XUV400 EV, it is slated to enter series production by November. Mahindra aims to manufacture between 1,500 to 1,800 units monthly for the XUV 3XO EV, reflecting cautious optimism given current market trends. This production target aligns with a broader strategy to produce around 12,000 units of the XUV 3XO across its entire lineup, encompassing petrol, diesel, and electric variants.
Despite challenges in EV adoption, particularly highlighted by the XUV400 EV's sales performance, Mahindra remains committed to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio and this could build upon the already steaming success of the ICE model that saw massive demand. However, it will be positioned below the Mahindra XUV400.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Everything We Know So Far
Based on the facelifted XUV 3XO, the electric version will come with the same dimensions and size, albeit with some EV-specific elements like a closed-off grill, drag-reduction tyres, modified instrument cluster to incorporate battery and range status, and a few more. However, in terms of equipment, the Mahindra XUV 3XO will carry a lot of features from the current fuel-propelled unit. Meanwhile, since the engine bay will have extra space, expect a 'Frunk' for added storage space.

The electrified XUV 3XO will be powered by a 34.5 kWh battery, just like you get with the base XUV400, and although the range is still not revealed, we expect it to hover around 350-380 km as the claimed number. There is still no available info about the motor and power figures. Meanwhile, in terms of price, it will be around Rs. 15-17 lakhs which will keep it around Rs. 2 lakh more affordable than the XUV400.
While it is reported to enter production in November 2024, it could launch by the end of this year for a renewed push to Mahindra's EV line-up.
Verdict
With everything that is known, the electric XUV 3XO could deal a big blow to the Tata Nexon EV. While reports suggest it could undercut the XUV400 in pricing, the range will play a major factor in its mass appeal. If it could offer extra miles than the competition, it could be the next big player in the EV space. Add Mahindra's solid build quality to the mix, the overall package will offer everything that the segment demands.
