Mahindra XUV 3XO Spotted In Wraps: CNG Or EV?
After the launch of Mahindra XUV 3XO, the wrapped test unit has sparked heightened interest among the masses as to what is now cooking under those wraps. While some are speculating it to be the CNG version, others assume that it is the XUV400 EV facelift in line with the updated design philosophy. However, if you look closely and observe, the open front grille for the air intake confirms a fossil-fuel-powered variant. Also, the fuel-lid had petrol written, which confirms it without any room for doubts.
Interestingly, in the sub-4-meter space, only the Maruti Brezza comes with a CNG powertrain option for now. We have the Tata Nexon iCNG confirmed for a launch soon as the brand has already revealed it in the past. So, a CNG-powered XUV 3XO comes out to be the most reasonable explanation for this test mule. It will place it on par with the rivals that offer all petrol, CNG, and diesel powertrains. It could be paired with the manual variants of the 1.2L petrol mill that puts out 110PS power.
A Tech Package To Match
The renewed interest in the XUV300 facelift is driven by its significant enhancements in both design and technology. Notably, the XUV 3XO model distinguishes itself with an impressive array of innovative features, encompassing dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake, and Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety. Moreover, it boasts a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, remote keyless entry, USB-A, and rear USB-C charging ports, cruise control, and 360-degree cameras with blind-view monitoring, enhancing convenience. In terms of safety, the vehicle is equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, among other features.

Moreover, the CNG variant when launched will get the twin-cylinder tech that Tata has already employed with the Punch, Tiago, and Tigor CNG models. It will rival the Maruti Brezza CNG and the upcoming Tata Nexon CNG.

Verdict
The only resonable explanation to the re-wrapped XUV 3X is a CNG powertrain. Going by what the segment is up to, a CNG powertrain will further strengthen its mass appeal and its psotioning in the market. However, since the boot space is the same as before, there might be a challenge for ample space, even after going the Twin-cylinder route. Well, we might as well put the assumptions to rest for a while and see if the brand pulls out something again to counter this hurdle.
