Mercedes Benz CLA

The CLA has been a prominent vehicle in India for Mercedes Benz, as when it used to sell here, people were crazy about it, and you could easily spot it multiple times, especially in North India, and that's because of its attractive low price. The last recorded price of the CLA was Rs 38 lakh for the diesel variant 200 Style, and the petrol one used to cost around 42 to 45 lakhs. So, the people who always wanted to purchase this brand's vehicle finally got to fulfill their dream. In 2019, it was discontinued, and its 2nd generation never came to India. Will this 3rd generation come? Let's see.

First of all, the new design of this model, named C178, looks so aerodynamically rich and a product of the future. This is the first car from Mercedes Benz to get a fully illuminated grille with 142 individually animated LED stars, along with a giant illuminated central star, that looks so special, and is also the core design part of this new CLA. Even in the LED headlights, the star-shaped DRLs are there, plus the same styling you will notice in the LED tail-lights, where the brake light is integrated into the star shape.
Interior

This car is so high on tech that Mercedes calls it the most intelligent vehicle they have ever produced. Thanks to the Mercedes Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which is an in-house built system, driving assistance systems and over-the-air updates will be available for it for years, keeping it as fresh as new for the upcoming years. Also, the infotainment system of it integerated artificial intelligence AI from both Microsoft, and Google is there.

Another major highlight of the interior is the three screens, with the infotainment screen being 14 inches and the driver's display being 10.25 inches. Customers can also opt for a third screen dedicated to the front passenger. The AC vents are placed below, and the steering wheel is all new, similar to what we saw in the S63 AMG and G580. The flat-bottom, three-spoke steering wheel looks so beautiful. Other details include a huge panoramic glass roof, which is becoming the newest trend in the automotive industry.
Battery Specification
An 85 kWh battery pack will be there, which also incorporates cobalt, and produces 271 bhp. This power setup is available in the CLA 250+, and the press release mentions a more powerful setup with a dual motor, called the CLA 350 4Matic, where an additional 108 bhp is delivered to the front wheels, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Additionally, the carbon footprint of the new all-electric CLA is reduced by 40% compared to the previous non-electric generation, according to the press note.
This car is equipped with an 800V electric architecture, allowing it to be charged up to 325 km in just 10 minutes. It also supports fast charging with up to 320 kW. Now, the first variant, CLA 250+ with EQ Technology, has a WLTP range of 792 km, and the range of the other model is yet unknown.

Verdict
Now, this might or might not come to India, but Mercedes did showcase its concept model at Auto Expo 2025, and the CLA has a good history in the country, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. If it launches, most probably, its electric version will debut, as this is where Mercedes has put a lot of focus and tried to create a revolutionary product. Based on the overall stats and photos, we personally love this vehicle and hope it launches in India soon.
