MG likes to call it an 'Intelligent CUV' and maybe that's why the test car has the same banner slapped onto its camouflage. The Cloud EV will be positioned above the Comet EV and below the ZS EV. Hence, it'll rival the Tata Nexon EV & Mahindra XUV400. Going by the looks of it, the design of Cloud EV is very distinctive as it is shaped between a hatchback & an SUV. The curvy roof with big glass area and large wheels, all make it look unique.

It will get a two-step front design with an LED light bar acting as a DRL. Moreover, the rear design will also get a connected LED light over the boot and unique-looking taillights. It'll also get clean panels with flush-type door handles, to make it aesthetically appealing. Similarly, the interior design with get a minimalistic approach with a circular three-spoke steering wheel, a floating infotainment screen, and a low-set dashboard. Overall, it'll be a 5-seater car with ample space for all occupants. There'll be a 'Sofa mode' for the front seats to enhance the space & utility of the cabin.

Powering the Cloud EV could be two different powertrains - a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh battery pack. Both of these motors will deliver the power to the front wheels. However, the difference would be the driving range as the 37.9kWh battery option delivers 360 km of range, while the 50.6kWh battery pack deliver 460 km range. It'll be interesting to see which of these options will land in India. We assume that MG will offer the latter as it has a better range. Both options produce a peak power output of 134bhp.

As per online reports, the expected price of the Cloud EV will be around Rs 20 lakh. It is anticipated to launch in India early next year, possibly by March 2025.

Verdict

Despite of an image struggle due to being attached with SIAC, MG India has pulled it off really well. They're constantly topping the customers satisfaction surveys and the Comet EV has proven to be a game changer. With the Cloud EV, MG will expectedly take charge on the EV sales with a stronger approach.
