MG India has unveiled the its first-ever soft top convertible electric sportscar, the MG Cyberstar in India, On top of this, they have showcased more EVs alongside the Cyberster providing a glimpse of its solid electric line-up for the global scale. On top of this, JSW and MG Motors have now joined hands for the new venture, JSW MG Motors India Pvt. Limited. The sporty MG Cyberster is the world's only electric roadster with a fabric soft-top convertible rooftop. It has a long hood with a 2-seater layout accompanied by sweptback sleek LED headlamps design and large vertical air intakes below. It appears sharp like a sportscar should while having smooth flowy lines across the body for a nimble and agile appearance.

At its rear, it gets a sharp arrow-shaped LED tail lamp with a solid light bar spanning the rear of this roadster. However, the main highlight happens to be the beautiful electrically operated scissor doors that accentuate the overall exterior appeal. These all elements come together for an eye-catching proposition which is something that the Cyberster does almost perfectly

Interior And Features: Sporty On The Inside With Brimmed-Up Tech

The interiors take a driver-focused approach and offer an attractive red sporty interior with 4 screens tilted towards the driver. The 2-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel has been designed elegantly with solid leather wrapping. It gets sleek aircon vents and a center console. In terms of features, MG is known for loading its vehicles with class-leading features and this is not going to be any different. It gets 4 screens for the driver with a premium sound system. Digital instrument cluster, electrically operated scissor doors, HVAC touch control panel, LED lighting all around, convertible soft-top, and much more.

Performance

The Cyberster comes in 2 variants. A 77kWh battery pack that produces 535bhp power with 735 Nm of torque powering all four wheels. It goes from 0-100 kmph in a swift 3.2 seconds with a claimed range of up to 580 km. On the other hand, the smaller 64kWh version puts out 308 bhp power and offers a smaller range of 520 km on a single charge. This variant comes with a simple rear-wheel drive system.

JSW- MG Motors Enters Joint-Venture

JSW Group and SAIC's MG Motors have joined hands in India to be named JSW MG Motors India Pvt. Ltd. The new joint venture plans to roll out its first New Energy Vehicle in October 2024. This new venture will utilize the technology of SAIC MG Motor along with the manufacturing muscle and other interests of the JSW Group in India for a robust push in the Indian market. Moreover, the new JV aims to take the production capacity from 1,00,000 to 3,00,000 vehicles per year. They aim to focus more on premium passenger vehicles and also cater to the new-age mobility needs of the market. The Competition Commission Of India approved the joint venture with JSW Group acquiring a 35% stake in MG Motors India.

Future Products

While the MG Cyberster has been unveiled today, the new joint venture has some very ambitious plans for the future. The first launch is slated for October 2024 and a new launch every 3-4 months then onwards. The focus is mainly on faster EV adoption in the country with at least 2 launches already planned for this calendar year.

By 2030, the company aims to pioneer the segment of New Energy Vehicle as the market leader with an extensive portfolio of NEVs. Also, the company showcased the MG 4 EV and MG 5 EV which are also expected to arrive in India sometime in the future. However, there are no concrete hints about the Ifs and Whens.

MG Motors and JSW Group joining hands will help the company achieve new heights as they mutually leverage the expertise and proficiency in different skill sets.
