Morris Garages entered the Indian market in the year 2019 with the Hector mid-size SUV and it became an instant hit. The MG Hector was launched in India in June 2019 and the Indian car buyers accepted it wholeheartedly. It became instantly popular, all thanks to its unique design language, decent powertrains, feature-loaded cabin, attractive price and after-sales package. Now, within two years of its India launch, Morris Garages is all set to give it an update. The upcoming 2021 MG Hector Facelift BS6 has been spied on test in India several times before and now it is all set to be launched next month.
With the facelift update, MG will make the good-looking Hector SUV even better and it will get some new features too. It is worth mentioning that the Hector will be getting this update within just two years of its launch, which is quite a short period of time, to be honest. However, the MG Hector series is the company's bread and butter product in the Indian market. The MG Hector is currently the company's best-selling product in the country and the carmaker wants to keep the sales momentum going by introducing the new Hector Facelift. The Hector Facelift won't get a host of changes but its subtle aesthetic upgrades and new features will surely enhance its appeal.

Talking about the changes, the upcoming MG Hector Facelift will get a new front fascia. The facelifted SUV will get a new design for the grille. The grille of the car will be slimmer than before with subtle chrome inserts. Also, it is expected to now sport horizontal slats in the grille which will be similar to the Hector sold in the South American markets, re-badged as the Chevrolet Captiva. The upcoming facelifted MG Hector will also get new 18-inch alloy wheels. The Hector SUV currently gets 17-inch alloy wheels and they look a bit undersized, thanks to its massive wheel arches. The other bits of the car is expected to remain the same as before. On the inside, the Hector Facelift will get new dual-tone interior, just like the recently launched Hector Plus.
The dual-tone interiors will lend more premium appeal to the SUV and it will now get an auto-dimming rear-view mirror too. The mechanicals of the car will remain exactly the same as before which means that it will get a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This motor will churn out 143 PS of power at 5000 RPM and 250 Nm of peak torque between 1600-3600 RPM. The petrol mill will also be available with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The non-hybrid petrol motor will come paired to a six-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) and a six-speed manual gearbox while the petrol hybrid motor will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox only. It will also get a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that will churn out 170 PS of power at 3750 RPM and 350 Nm of peak torque between 1750-2500 RPM. The oil-burner will come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox only.
