MG Motor India has revealed that it has retailed 2863 units last month. It must be noted here that even though the demand for new cars has been on a rise ever since the fall in new COVID cases, the carmaker has capped the stock at its authorised dealership owing to the great shortage of semiconductor chips across the world.

It is worth mentioning here that the semiconductor chip shortage at a global level has disturbed the production of carmakers across the world, which has, in turn, led to lower production and hence, lower sales. It's being said that this challenger will persist through the coming months and things are likely to get better only next year.
However, in spite of the long waiting periods and the country yet to fully recover from the pandemic, MG Motor India has been benefitting from an improving demand on the back of the festive season. Last month, the carmaker bagged over 4,000 bookings for th eHEctor and more than 600 bookings for the ZS EV and the Gloster. Even the recently launched Astor has got a positive response from the buyers and currently, it stands sold out for the ongoing calendar year.

In fact, this year's batch of MG Astor was booked in a matter of just 20 minutes of the opening of the order book. Deliveries of the new Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta rival will now start from today. Also, bookings for the next batch, which will be delivered in 2022, are now open.
Speaking on the good feedback from car buyers, Rajeev Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India, said, MG Astor is a premium mid-segment SUV with elegant exteriors, luxurious interiors, and futuristic technology. We are ecstatic about the response we have received from the customers. However, given the global chip crisis that the industry is undergoing, we can only supply a limited number of cars this year. We expect supplies to become better from Q1 next year.
Launched last month, the MG Astor has gone on sale at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 9.78 lakh. The Astor has become its manufacturer's fourth offering for the Indian market since it launched the Hector, its first product, back in 2019. The new model has become the most affordable car in the company's lineup but shares aplenty with the MG ZS EV that has been on sale for a while now. The Astor benefits from several segment-first features, including ADAS Level-2 kit and AI-controlled personal voice assistant.
