Hyundai is going all guns blazing this year. The South Korean car manufacturer has a busy 2020 as a lot of new cars have been launched and also are scheduled to be launched this year. Hyundai started the year with the launch of their new sub-compact sedan, Hyundai Aura. The carmaker showcased a ton of cars at the 2020 Auto Expo which was followed by the launch of the all-new 2020 Hyundai Creta. Thereafter, the company launched the new 2020 Hyundai Verna Facelift. And now, the automaker is all geared up to launch the new-generation i20 in India. The New-Gen 2020 Hyundai i20 has been recently spied on test in the National Capital of India. Here are some more details about it.
The new Hyundai i20 was scheduled to make its World Premiere at the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show. But thanks to the on-going Coronavirus pandemic, the motor show was cancelled and Hyundai took the wraps off the car digitally. The new-gen 2020 Hyundai i20 looks strikingly awesome. Globally, it gets a new honeycomb grille with a matte black finish. However, the India-spec model will get Hyundai's signature cascading grille. Upfront, it will get new sporty bumpers and triangular housing for the foglamps.
The premium hatchback will also get new all-LED headlamps with hook-shaped LED DRLs. The side profile will house new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and it gets a very sleek stance. At the rear, the car will get new LED taillamps with Z-shaped LED DRLs and the taillamps will be connected with a LED strip. It will also get a black finish on the tailgate, new bumpers and a shark fin antenna. Overall, the car will look very sporty and stylish.

Talking about features, the new i20 will be loaded with features up to the brim. It will get a big 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and BlueLink connectivity. The premium hatchback will also get a new all-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, automatic climate control, etc. Talking about the engine options, it will share its powertrains with the Hyundai Venue. It will get two petrol engines and an oil-burner. All three engines will be BS6-compliant.
It will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that churns out 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It will also get a 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. This engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Moreover, it will also get a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This motor will churn out 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque. It will come mated to both a 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The new-gen 2020 Hyundai i20 was scheduled to be launched in India in June 2020. But again, thanks to the novel coronavirus, the launch has been delayed. It is now expected to hit the Indian showrooms by the festive season of 2020, i.e. somewhere around September or October. It will be priced in the range of Rs. 5.5 lakhs - Rs. 9.5 lakhs, Ex-showroom. Once launched, the new i20 will rub its shoulders against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, etc.
