The latest recall covers nearly 26,300 variants of single-channel ABS variants of the new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 that come with rear drum brake
Launched in September 2021, the new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been quick to follow the footsteps of its predecessors by attracting thousands of motorcycle buyers. The latest generation of the bikemaker's hot-selling brand of motorcycle is available in a price range of INR 1.84-2.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
In a recent development, the new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been recalled over a potential issue with the brake reaction bracket that comes fitted to the motorcycle's swingarm. The recall drive covers nearly 26,300 units of single-channel ABS-equipped rear drum brake variant of Classic 350 that were manufactured between 1 September 2021-5 December 2021.
As per Royal Enfield, it was found that under certain riding conditions, an exceptionally higher braking load on the rear brake pedal could potentially damage the brake reaction bracket, which could result in an unusual braking noise and finally, reduced braking efficiency. This issue has been found only on the single-channel ABS and rear drum brake-equipped models of the new-gen Classic that were produced in the aforementioned time period.

Motorcycles that are covered under this recall drive will be checked and as a precautionary measure, the manufacturer will reinforce the brake reaction bracket of the swing arm for all units. Affected customers will be contacted by Royal Enfield service teams and/or local dealerships. Moreover, customers can even proactively check if their motorcycle is covered under this recall by visiting the official Royal Enfield website or reaching out to the local authorized workshop or even by calling 1800 210 007.
The new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 is powered by the same 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that powers the Meteor 350. The motor churns out a maximum power of 20 bhp at 6,100 rpm along with a peak torque of 27 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The motor comes mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox.

Compared to the earlier generation, the new motorcycle features a comprehensively updated package that is not limited to the engine. For example, the 35 mm front forks and the twin hydraulic shock absorbers on the previous model have been replaced with 41 mm telescopic forks up front and twin-tube emulsion shock absorbers with 6-step adjustable pre-load at the rear. Basically, this is the same setup that is also found on the Meteor 350. Even the braking hardware has been improved. The new motorcycle has been available with a 300mm disc brake upfront along with a 153 mm drum unit at the rear and single-channel ABS as standard. Additionally, buyers can even opt for 270mm disc brake at the rear along with dual-channel ABS.
