New Honda Amaze Fully Uncovered
The new Honda Amaze stays rather close to what we had seen in the design sketches released by the car maker some time ago. The front fascia of the car takes heavy inspiration from the Elevate, featuring the imposing-looking grille that also looks similar to Honda's North American SUVs. A chrome strip runs throughout bonnet, right above the sleek LED headlamps.
It is difficult to comment on the profile of this car, but we can expect some inspiration to be drawn from the City and the Elevate. The new Amaze will also likely feature multiple alloy rim options.
The rear of the new Amaze seems to draw heavily from the current-gen City, with a near-identical treatment to the tail-lamps. As for the interiors, they also stick quite close to what we have seen on the design sketches, with most elements and a lot of the layout having been retained.
The new Amaze will receive a floating infotainment touch screen, along with a switchable wireless charging pad, and it is also likely to come with a push-button start, cruise control, a USB charging port, and automatic air-conditioning among other things. The instrument cluster is likely to be a twin-dial unit, and it is also expected to come with some levels of ADAS tech.
Not much is known about the mechanicals of the new Amaze. However, we can expect it to retain the same 1.2-litre, nat-asp petrol engine, producing 89bhp and 110Nm of torque, paired to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT.
Verdict
The new Honda Amaze is going to compete against the newly-updated Maruti Suzuki Dzire, and this is going to generate some more interest in the compact sedan segment. We won't be surprised if the Amaze also pulls out a surprise in crash tests. However, a final verdict shall come out once the prices are revealed and we find out what's it like to drive.
