Nissan X-Trail Indian Launch In Coming Months: Revival Of The Icon
For enthusiasts, the Nissan X-trail needs no introduction. Back in the day, it has been a major player in its first and second generations. Then it went out of India to say in the international markets. Now, its fourth generation, which was launched back in 2021, will be making its way back into the country and the SUV buyers are keen to know what's cooking. Interestingly, the first units will be introduced via the CBU route, as per the government policy that allows up to 2500 units per annum without the need for homologation.
The Japanese automaker showcased this Nissan X-Trail in India and confirmed its re-introduction in the country in the near future. Now, this is a confirmed development that it is finally making its debut in the next couple of months to shake up the SUV space. However, there's an elephant in the room that we need to address, a probable major miss. We'll get back to this in just a moment. Let's look at what you get inside the cabin first.
Features
The Nissan X-Trail is a premium affair and by no means misses out on features. With a tan brown and black interior, it gets a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with a similar-sized fully digital instrument cluster. On top of this, you will get wireless charging, an electric tailgate with motion sensing, a heads-up display, paddle shifters, ADAS, multiple airbags, and much more. In short, the X-Trail is pretty lucrative inside the cabin and can take on any rival if it comes down to tech onboard.

Engine Options: Time To Address The Elephant In The Room!
The upcoming seven-seat SUV will be introduced exclusively as a petrol variant, differing from the hybrid model exhibited in India in October 2022. For the Indian market, the X-Trail will be propelled by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which, internationally, yields 204hp and 305Nm of peak torque. While the inclusion of a CVT gearbox for this SUV is assured, the configuration regarding 2WD or AWD remains undisclosed; however, the latter is the more probable option. The omission of a hybrid tech is likely to keep the costs in check, which will already be on the steeper side, courtesy of its CBU journey.
The pricing is expected to hover around Rs. 35- 40 lakhs and will rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and other premium SUVs.
