Ola Electric Swappable Batteries - S1 Pro To Get Updates?
A recent design patent shows that Ola has finalized on swappable battery system. The swappable battery seems to be the perfect solution for customers looking for long-range EVs. While the Ola S1 Pro offers the best range in its segment, the swappable battery system would benefit the upcoming products as well. Currently, Ola is developing new EVs that include motorcycles and three-wheelers. For now, Hero Vida V1 and the Simple One are the only e-scooters that offer a swappable battery option.
Along with the swappable battery design patent, the upcoming products will also get swappable batteries. Speaking about the bikes, Ola has patented various designs including a roadster and a sports bike as well. Ola also plans to launch an ADV electric bike which may compete with the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan E.
In the commercial EV category, Ola has patented three-wheelers with a closed-door layout and a flatbed. This indicates that rivals like Piaggio and Euler will face competition from Ola in the coming months. While it is a new category to step in, Ola's swappable battery system will prove beneficial here. Commercial vehicles lack swappable tech to an extent. The introduction of this tech will revolutionize the segment.

Verdict
Swappable battery system is surely a beneficial tech for the EV customers. But, establishment of a widespread swapping station system is difficult to do immediately. Ola will need to make sure that before its swappable batteries make it to the showrooms, the swapping station numbers should be enough.
