Late last month, Tata Motors gifted a Tata Altroz to each of the Indian Olympians who had missed a podium by a whisker. In line with this, the homegrown carmaker has now handed over a unit of the hatchback to the Indian boxer for his performance at the recently held 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Pune-based carmaker says that these athletes might have missed the medal but have definitely won the hearts of many countrymen through their dedication and great performances. In order to recognize the effort of these sportsmen, Tata Motors has honoured 24 athletes across various categories, including Boxing, Discuss throw, Wrestling, Hockey and Golf. Each of these players has been gifted an Altroz finished in the signature High Street Gold colour shade.
Satish Kumar represented India from Delhi (NCR) in +91KG category (super heavyweight) Boxing. Among his top achievements, he secured the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, and a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in 2019. Creating history with his performances, he is also been awarded the Arjuna Award by the Indian Government in 2018. The handover ceremony was conducted at Sagar Motors, Greater Noida in the presence of Mr. Varun Sagar - Dealer Principal, Mr. Rajesh Sagar - Dealer Principal and the athletes family.
The Tata Altroz is on sale in three engine variants - 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. The base petrol motor outputs 85 bhp and 113 Nm, while the turbo petrol unit produces 108 bhp and 140 Nm. The diesel-burner offers 89 bhp and 200 Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on all engines and currently, none of the three engine variants come with an automatic transmission option.
