After petrol and diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG) is now one of the most popular fuel options. Many new CNG vehicles have been introduced in 2022. As we bid adieu to 2022, we present you a list of CNG cars launched in 2022.

Tata Tiago / Tigor CNG
Tata Tiago & Tigor CNG were introduced at the start of the year. Tata Motors has made its presence known in the CNG range with the introduction of the Tiago and Tigor CNG. A 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, bi-fuel engine powers both of these variants. This machine can produce up to 72 bhp of power and 95 Nm of peak torque. These CNG vehicles only come with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, unlike the petrol variant, which also offers an AMT gearbox as an option.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso / Alto K10 / Celerio CNG
In India, Maruti Suzuki is the market leader in CNG vehicles and has a large CNG fleet. The S-Presso, Alto K10, and Celerio are three CNG vehicles that Maruti released in 2022 that share the same engine specifications. The 1.0-liter petrol+CNG engine in all three vehicles generates a maximum torque of 82.1 Nm and 56 bhp power. Combined with the engine is a 5-speed manual transmission. Despite having the identical engine, the mileage of the three models varies; the Celerio CNG has a fuel economy of 35.60 km/kg, the S-Presso has a 32.73 km/kg, and the Alto K10 has a 33.85 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki Swift / Dzire / Baleno CNG
The larger bi-fuel engine is standard in these Maruti Suzuki vehicles. These three vehicles each have a 1.2-liter bi-fuel engine that is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission and capable of producing 76 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The Baleno, Dzire, and Swift are tailored for various levels of fuel efficiency, just like the previous three vehicles. Fuel efficiency for the Baleno, Dzire, and Swift is 30.61 km/kg, 31.12 km/kg, and 30.90 km/kg, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki XL6
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is the brand's second MPV to include a CNG drivetrain. A 1.5-liter bi-fuel petrol engine powers the XL6. The engine can produce 87 bhp of power and 121.5 Nm of torque in CNG mode, and 99 bhp of power and 136 Nm of maximum torque in petrol mode. This engine also comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. The XL6 CNG's maker claims that it has a fuel economy of 26.32 km/kg.
Toyota Glanza CNG
With the launch of the Glanza CNG, Toyota officially entered the CNG market. The brand quickly followed the release of Baleno CNG, its rebadged brother, by releasing the Glanza CNG. The CNG version has a 1.2-liter bi-fuel engine that generates a maximum torque of 113 Nm and 76 horsepower. The engine has a 5-speed transmission and achieves a fuel efficiency of 30.61 km/kg on average.
Verdict
The introduction of numerous CNG cars has provided buyers a wide range of options. People who live in large cities are becoming more and more interested in the fuel-efficient CNG powertrains. The main automakers are also developing other CNG cars, including the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, and others, which are anticipated to go on sale in 2023.
