First launched in July 2012, the Renault Duster is easily among the oldest cars on sale in the country. The Duster spearheaded the formation of the compact SUV segment and was quite popular until around the advent of the first generation Hyundai Creta around 3 years later. The Renault Duster was even given a facelift in 2016, and, then, another one in 2019, but there's not much that these updates could do to revive the sales fortune of the compact SUV. No wonder, then, that this Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-Cross-rival is currently being sold with some huge discounts to help the dealerships move the inventory.

Currently, the Renault Duster is being sold with discounts amounting to more than Rs 80,000. Buyers of this slow-selling SUV can benefit from a cash discount of Rs 20,000, an exchange bonus of Rs 30,000 and a corporate offer of Rs 30,000. Additionally, existing Renault customers can even benefit from a free 5 Year AMC and 5 Year Warranty. Additionally, one can haggle with the dealer to benefit from some additional discounts.
With more than Rs 80,000 shaved off the sticker price, the Renault Duster range effectively retails at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 9 lakh. This makes the compact SUV more affordable than even many sub-4-metre models. For instance, prices of the Kia Sonet Turbo start at Rs 10.37 lakh*, while even the top-end manual variant of the Nissan Magnite costs over Rs 9 lakh*.

The entry-level Renault Duster is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit that generates a maximum power of 105 bhp along with a peak torque of 142 Nm, while the higher versions are powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor that outputs a maximum of 153.5 bhp and 255 Nm. These figures make the turbocharged Duster the most powerful model in its segment. However, unlike earlier, the Duster is no longer available with either of the 1.5-litre diesel options, which means the AWD and AMT variants that were exclusive to the diesel models, have also been discontinued.
Back in July this year, rumours on the imminent discontinuation of the Renault Duster surfaced on the web. However, until now, we're yet to receive any sort of official communication on this from the local subsidiary of the French carmaker.
