Renault India Export More Than 1 Lakh Cars via Make In India Campaign

Renault India Operations has exported more than 1 lakh vehicles to 14 countries, and will soon expand into Africa and South East Asian Region.

Renault's India Operations has exported more than 1 lakh vehicles across SAARC, Asia Pacific, Indian Oceanic Region, South Africa, and the East African Region from India.

All these vehicles were designed, engineered, and manufactured in India, as part of the Make In India Initiative. All three models of Renault - KWID, Triber, and the Kiger were built in India, and launched here first, except for the Duster. This is because globally the new Duster is sold in most markets but sadly, India still gets the old generation model.

Achieving this feature is a milestone feat. and it comes after 16 years since its operation debut here in India in 2015. And their first car here not quite per se for the masses, at that time, was the Fluence. The mid-size sedan did not catch the trend much and was last offered between Rs. 17-19 lakhs in two variants, both diesel models.

As of now, Renaults line-up is mostly comprised of affordable vehicles, with compact and sub-compact body shapes. The only premium vehicle is the Duster, but even that will be shelved by 2022.

Speaking on achieving this milestone was the Country CEO and Managing Director of Renault India Operations, Mr. VenkatramMamillapale. This 1 lakh export milestone is a significant feat as it is a testament of our product focus that encompasses our expertise in constant innovation and in-depth knowledge of customer needs and reflects the customers confidence around the world in the quality, engineering, and technology of our products, he exclaimed.

Renault also plans to launch new vehicles in the future. These new vehicles will either be new variants of the existing model or an EV model at best. The Kwid is expected to get an EV alternative this year, so that might be the case.

If there were any possibilities, Mr. VenkatramMamillapale said, Our expansion strategy is focused on further strengthening our presence in India, driving growth momentum across our product portfolio, and continue playing an important role in making Indian products popular and aspirational in the international markets, explained by Mr..

Renault India export

The Indian market is beneficial for Renault, not just for developing vehicles but also for further expanding their portfolio. India is a very important market for Renault Group and we have always laid concerted focus on building capabilities and supporting the Make in India initiative. Currently, Renault operates the exports of the Kiger to Nepal and South Africa. The new sporty B-segment SUV was launched after the Triber. However, the Kwid has been quite detrimental in establishing Renault as a household name. The guised-Dacia continues to be the premium, rugged affair in the line-up.
