River Indie Electric Scooter - Details
River EV introduced its first product i.e. the Indie e-scooter earlier this year. The niche product was introduced in the market with a radical design and some segment-first features. Interestingly, the launch price of this e-scooter was Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). However, with the FAME-II subsidy revisions, River EV has revised its pricing. The new prices are yet to be revealed to the customers. Meanwhile, the first batch of customers who'll be receiving their scooters will get it at the promised introductory price.
Speaking of the scooter, it has a stylish and radical design with a big front panel. The key highlights of its design include a big twin-pod LED headlight unit, a flat footboard, and a massive 55-lts of total storage space. It is powered via a 4kWh Li-ion battery pack which is mated to a 4.5kW electric motor. This electric powertrain helps it achieve a top speed of 90 kmph in Rush mode. It also offers three riding modes - Eco, Ride, & Rush. The maximum real-world riding range in the Eco mode is a claimed 120 km. Additionally, it also gets features like USB phone charging, a digital console, & a combined braking system.
Verdict
River Indie is a new brand which promises to offer a strong product with an efficient powertrain. The launch price is also attractive but the revised pricing is yet to be known. However, its plush ride quality, features, & unique design does offer a different appeal than its rivals. Tell us in the comments about your thoughts on this new e-scooter.
